What is roleplay?

Roleplay is the act of imitating the character and behaviour of someone who is different from yourself or assumes a role, either unconsciously to fill a social role, or consciously creating a role.

Real-Life Role-Playing

Often, our environment and circumstances decide who we are and what we do. It also indirectly shapes our beliefs and identity at the same time.

We’re playing one or many roles — as a father/mother, citizen, or employee — from day today. In most cases, we don’t decide what role we’re playing and who we are; sometimes, we don’t even have the choice for some role such as a son, a citizen of a certain country and a part of a certain race.

Role-playing to escaping real-life.

Video games are played for various reasons, although the majority play video games for entertainment purposes, some choose it as a break from daily activities, escapism or stress reduction. But, There were playing video games as a mean to escape from reality, or to have a break from stress, had a significantly higher level of procrastination. Escape from reality because nearly everything in reality/life is gonna cause stress in some way… And some video games can if people don’t realize “It’s just a game…”

Explore reality in your RPG instead of using it as a way to escape reality. Players will find they will get far more from the games they are playing. Plus they will become better people right along with becoming better players.
