“Today, we might say, technology has become advanced enough to give us the internet, but we’re still finding out if society is advanced enough to accept it.”

The Internet has enabled connecting more people virtually to society. People are connected to the internet for communications, collaboration, social interaction, activities, and social associations on social media platforms. Almost every generation in our society is using the internet widely. People can easily find more friends, mutual friends, or people they may know. But how can be sure that they are the same people you actually knew.

“And the same is true of our social relationships. Chatting to our friends, messaging our loved ones, finding dates, recording intimate details of our lives — from exercise routines to periods — it all happens on the internet.”

Interacting with people on the Internet. We are likely unable to meet the actual people that we interact through the internet. Sometimes we have to distort our identity information on the internet to make sure it won’t be used for other benefits. And to protect ourselves from malicious intent. Therefore, users create their own profiles as they want others to represent them in the online world, characters that are designed on some level, conscious or subconscious, to shape others’ ideas about who they really are. In one way or another, everyone is free to hide what they don’t want people to see and only show them what they want. Anything can be made up and show off on the internet. Indeed, it’s natural for us to create characters that represent what we want to be rather than what we are. And it’s only a short step there to manipulate the perception of others to give themselves an advantage in deception. In order to protect and conceal some parts of identity.

“The internet and other digital technologies affect every aspect of our lives, our politics, our society.”

On the internet, even if users are careful or protected from the profile, there may be unexpected events that can occur to themselves. Fake social media accounts or profiles are often set up to do harm to individuals.

This is a common form of cyberbullying that can cause serious distress to victims and affect online reputation. How can we sure about the user’s identity on the internet?
